Matriculation Not A Guarantee For Graduation At NOUN – VC

The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Vincent Tenebe has declared that granting of admission to any student into the university was not a guarantee for graduation.

He made the observation in his message to the newly admitted students into the institution during their matriculation ceremony across its 62 study centres nationwide last weekend.

They are 29,092 in all. According to him, matriculation as far as NOUN is concerned is just a gateway, marking the beginning of training for students in their respective courses of study and not a warranty for graduation.

Prof. Tenebe, whose message was delivered by various principal officers of the institution, urged the students to be diligence, determined, focused, disciplined as well as persevered so as to be able to graduate on record times and with good grades.

“You have to earn your grades in NOUN. As an institution, NOUN will give you all that required for you to do well not only in your studies but in other areas of life. We have standard facilities and personnel that will help to make your study at NOUN worthwhile.

You are to graduate for world market,” he noted. Speaking on the school operations, the vice chancellor explained that apart from producing instructional materials in print, audio CDs and braille, there are also ICT interactive platforms for both the students and members of staff including course instructors.

He further disclosed that the university was in partnership with similar institutions globally where students and staffers are engaged in exchange programmes with those partners
