Photo News: 7-feet Cobra Scares Students At ABU Hostel

Palpable fear has gripped the students of  Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria following a 7-feet long cobra sneaked into Room 49, scaring students of the hostel. An eyewitness, who did not want his name in print, confirmed that the snake was seen shortly after Isha’i prayer by a student lying on his bed.
“The snake might have come through the thick bush at the back of the hostel,” he said.
The snake was killed through the combined efforts of the occupants of the room and others.

A student, Mr. Ibrahim, said: “It’s a sad event, just a coincidence people will say. But one of the factors that could be responsible for the development is the lack of light in the hostel.
“It would have been disastrous had the cobra bitten somebody. I am appealing for constant supply of electricity to hostels.”
Another student, Ben, residing at ICSA, added: “The ICSA/RAMAT Hostel is located at the outskirt of the school and surrounded by bush. One would not have expected this kind of snake, very big snake, to sneak into our room.”
He appealed to the school authority to guard against similar incidence.
“Although, the management has been doing its best to ensure constant electricity supply to hostels, more needs to be done,” he said.
